Tribal Fire

Meet the Members

FarashaFarasha: "I chose my name because it's Arabic for 'butterfly.' I am all about enjoying life to the fullest. My husband and two boys are my world, but Tribal/Gothic belly dance allows me to express myself. I love my belly dance sisters, and hope we keep dancing together until we are old and gray."

ZsuskaZsuska: "I dance to tell a story by connecting with the music and the movement of the body."
EllwayEllway: "I dance because dancing is part of my life. Belly dancing is what brings out the real me and I have a blast doing it. I made so many friends and I love everything about belly dance."
ZaynaabZaynaab: "Belly dancing is the most natural way for me to move. It makes sense to me — so I go with it. I take my name from a true woman warrior of Persia who dedicated herself to fighting the tyranical oppression of the 19th-century monarchy. I remember her fearlessness, and I like to think a little bit of that comes through in my dancing."
BethanyBethany: "I've enjoyed the artistic and creative expression of belly dance since 2005. My background includes cabaret, tribal fusion and gothic fusion forms of belly dance, as well as jazz, tap, kickline and choreography."

Shanrae

Shannon: "I dance because it enriches my life with happiness — and to show my daughter that it's never too late to try something new."

AhmiAhmi: "I dance because it centers me and connects me with not only my own body, but with the larger world around me. Dance makes me laugh. It gives me joy. It makes me feel free from self-doubt."

AhmiRaeka: "I dance because it's fun and it makes me happy. Dancing takes me to a place inside myself where I'm graceful, confident and exotic. It's good for my body and soul."

ShanraeShanrae (Troupe Director): "I started teaching belly dance because after nine months of attempting to talk me into it, my instructor informed me that she was moving out of state and that if I didn’t teach, there would be no more class. I couldn’t imagine not being able to dance every week, so I reluctantly agreed. Now I am so glad that I was pushed into it. In teaching, I have been able to pass on to my students the joy I experience while dancing. I aloso get to watch these beautiful transformations as the women in my classes discover their own inner beauty.
